Our Team

The majority of our investment team have been working together for over 5 years.
The team is led by Sebastian Evans, Chief Investment Officer.
Supporting the team is a group of experienced support professionals and a deeply experienced and well credentialled Board of Directors.

Sebastian Evans

Chief Investment Officer

Sebastian joined NAOS in 2007 in the capacity of Investment Analyst. The business was recapitalised in 2011 at which time Sebastian took on the role of Portfolio Manager and Managing Director of the firm. Following from this, as a result of growth within the investment team, in 2015, Sebastian assumed the position of Chief Investment Officer.

In his role of Chief Investment Officer, Sebastian is ultimately responsible for the performance of the firm's investment vehicles and has ultimate discretion with regard to portfolio positioning.

Sebastian holds a Masters of Applied Finance majoring in Investment Management (MAppFin) as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, majoring in Finance and International Business. Sebastian also holds a Diploma in Financial Services and is in the final stages of completing an Executive Masters of Business Administration

Sebastian is a Director of the two NAOS Listed Investment Companies; the NAOS Emerging Opportunities Company (ASX: NCC) and the NAOS Absolute Opportunities Company (ASX: NAC). He is also a major shareholder of NAOS Asset Management Limited.

Ben Rundle

Portfolio Manager

Ben joined NAOS in January 2015 as a Portfolio Manager.

Ben has over 10 years’ experience in financial markets and prior to joining NAOS he held various roles within the Financial Services Industry including roles at Macquarie Bank and most recently with Moelis and Company. Ben holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting from the University of South Australia.

Jeffrey Kim

Portfolio Manager

Jeffrey joined NAOS in August 2009 as an Investment Analyst and is now a Portfolio Manager.

Prior to joining the Firm, Jeffrey completed his double degree in Applied Finance and Accounting from Macquarie University.

Robert Miller

Portfolio Manager

Robert Miller has been with NAOS since September 2009 working with the investment team as an Investment Analyst and now Portfolio Manager.

Robert has completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Technology Sydney, as well as completing his Masters of Applied Finance from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Richard Preedy

Chief Financial and Operating Officer

Richard joined NAOS in October 2015 as Chief Financial and Operating Officer, and also acts as Company Secretary for NAOS Asset Management Limited and NAOS Emerging Opportunities Company Limited. Richard has over 10 years financial services experience in the UK and Australia, beginning his career in London with Deloitte & Touche before relocating to Sydney in 2013.

Richard holds a BA (Hons) in Business Management from the University of Sheffield, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Julia Stanistreet

Business Development Manager

Julia joined NAOS in September 2015 in the capacity of Business Development Manager.

Prior to joining NAOS, Julia held various Client Relationship roles within the Financial Services Industry in Australia and the UK including roles at Macquarie Bank and most recently with Deutsche Bank.

Julia holds a Bachelor of Business degree majoring in Accounting from the University of Technology, Sydney and she also holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance from KAPLAN. Julia also holds a Graduate Diploma in Classical Voice from the Australian Institute of Music.

Megan Walker

Marketing and Communications Manager

Megan joined NAOS in December 2016 as the Marketing and Communications Manager.

Prior to joining NAOS, Megan gained over 4 years’ experience in the financial services industry as a Relationship Manager specialising in shareholder relations for a range of ASX listed entities. Megan holds a Bachelor of Business degree majoring in Marketing and Communications.

Rajiv Sharma

Senior Legal Counsel

Rajiv joined NAOS in August 2017. Most recently, he was Senior Legal Counsel at Magellan Financial Group and has previously worked at law firms, Johnson Winter & Slattery and Clayton Utz.

Rajiv holds a Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours), a Bachelor of Business (Accounting major) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Technology, Sydney. He is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales and is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW and the High Court of Australia.

Chadd Knights

Associate Analyst

Chadd joined NAOS in June 2015 as an Investment Analyst. Chadd completed his double degree in Applied Finance and Economics from Macquarie University and is a candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program.

Warwick Evans

Chairman, NAOS Asset Management Limited & Director NCC and NAC

Warwick has over 35 years of equity markets experience serving as Managing Director of Macquarie Equities (Globally) from 1991 to 2001 as well as being an Executive Director for Macquarie Group. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Newcastle Stock Exchange from 2000 to 2003. Warwick was Founding Chairman and Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of NSX Limited and Chairman of the Australian Stockbrokers Association. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce majoring in Economics from the University of New South Wales.

Mark Bennett

Director, NAOS Asset Management Limited

Mark has a wealth of investment banking and capital markets experience. Prior to starting Hanhill Capital in 2003, Mark held a variety of senior positions with Macquarie Bank both in Australia and in the UK for over a decade. He served as UK Country Head for Macquarie Bank from 1997 to 2000. Since 2000, Mark served as a Managing Director, Macquarie Equities of Macquarie Bank and Executive Director of Macquarie Bank from 1993 to 2003.

David Rickards

Chairman & Director, NCC and NAC

David was formerly the Head of Research and an Executive Director at Macquarie Bank. He coordinated a team based throughout Australia, Asia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom for over 16 years. David is an authority on global equities and capital markets, with particular expertise in strategic analysis and risk assessment. He has retired from working at Macquarie and is now devoting himself to the establishment and growth of SEFA, where he is Head of Investor Relations. Before joining Macquarie he was responsible for establishing the risk management company BARRA International in Australia. Up until recently David was a Director and Treasurer of Bush Heritage Australia.

David O’Halloran

Director, NAOS Asset Management Limited

David was an Executive Director of County NatWest Securities and then a founding director of Southern Cross Equities. With more than 30 years’ experience in financial services with roles in institutional sales, research and corporate services. David is a founding Executive Director of Blue Ocean Equities. David holds a Bachelor of Science (Newc) and an MBA (UNSW). He is also Senior Fellow of FINSIA and Master Stockbroker.
